Overall | Not that he's trying to be arrogant, but Rylen knows he's pretty good looking. Of course, two of his closest friends are Everleigh Min and Azriel Dongbang, and they can both be very straight forward, and if he were to say he wasn't attractive, they'd both tackle him and go "nu uh!" more or less. So yeah, he knows he's decent looking, but he's not the best looking guy out there. He's a bit more of a pretty boy, honestly, but that doesn't keep him from looking very boyish as well. He's not that tall, but is far from short; average height really. His hair can't really be considered long, but it's not short either. He tends to have it parted in the middle, or a bit off centre, and the front is a bit longer than the back, but it's nothing fancy. Ever just always tell him it suits him, and he doesn't care enough to bother changing it or anything. It's just sorta always been that way. Outside of uniform, Ry mostly just wears jeans and a light sweater over a t-shirt, or just the t-shirt if the weathers warm. He's generally very casual, not liking to dress up. It makes him look normal next to Ever, who likes to dress up, and Azzy, who just dresses weird.

  • So, when he was ten, Ry came down with meningitis. He and his parents just assumed he was down with the flu, and he tried to sleep it off, but after a few days his mum couldn't get him to wake up, went to the hospital, etc. When they got the swelling down, Ry couldn't see when he woke up. Well, it alternated between being able to see blurry shapes, and not at all for a few days, until they took him into surgery. He could see again after that, but his eye sight deteriorated a lot, and sometimes his eyes just get right fuzzy and he can't get them to focus on anything.

Boggart |

• Going blind is Rylen's biggest fear - when he was ten, he got really sick, and he couldn't see for a few days. His eye sight came back, obviously, but it's not like it was before, and frankly, it scares him. Of course, his boggart manifests itself as him without eyes, which makes it even more scary to him.

• Given that Ry can't actually conjure a corporeal patronus right now, hes' not really sure what his happiest memory would be. Aside from his getting really sick when he was ten, nothing majorly bad has happened in his life, but nothing really sticks out as really, really happy either. His first glimpse of Hogwarts tends to be the memory he falls back on, or just happy moments with his friends.

Overall | As Ever would put it, Rylen's squishy and fun to be around, but he seems like he wouldn't be, because a) he's a Slytherin, and b) he tends to look either done with you or a bit pissed off. Rylen would like to say that's just what his face looks like, he can't control it. But Ry does have a rather expressive face, it's just the shape of his eyebrows tend to make him look a bit... judgey or angry sometimes. He rarely is though. He is quite squishy though, and is usually quick to try and cheer up his friends if they're feeling down. He's ambitious, clever, resourceful. He's not that leader like, but he also doesn't want to be a leader. He's content being on the same level as everyone else. He doesn't like the house rivarly's either. It's one thing when it comes to quidditch, though Ry doesn't pay much attention to that, or the house cup. And there's a difference between being proud of your house and being a dick to people not in your house; Ry's proud of being a Slytherin, but his closest friends are a Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw, so.

Ry wouldn't say he's afraid of a lot of things. Things might freak him out, or he's not fond of them - such as spiders, heights and bugs, but they don't scare him. The one thing he's really, really afraid of is going blind. He was certain he wasn't going to be able to see again when he got sick, woke up unable to see, or if he could, it was just blurry shapes. Obviously, he's not blind, and while his eye sights not as good as it used to be, it's not bad bad. He's always afraid it's going to get worse though, and sometimes his eyes get all blurry, and he can't get them to focus on anything. Sometimes he thinks "this is it, good bye sight," just for his eyes to refocus like it never happened. It's scary. It doesn't help that his boggart manifests itself as him with no eyes, which is not a pleasant sight and in and of itself is scary as hell. He tries to pretend it doesn't bug him though, because he doesn't like to worry people. He'd rather make his friends happy than have them fretting over him.

Overall | Ry was born the second of three children in Surrey. Sometimes being the middle child wasn't all that fun, but Ry had a normal childhood, more or less. A handful of weird things happened, that Ry now knows was accidental magic, but was never anything too major, and nothing bad. Until he got his Hogwarts letter, no one suspected anything weird, or than, you know, him having an over active imagination, which he sorta did anyway, but details. Ry was a normal kid, in a normal neighbourhood, with normal parents and siblings, and an overall normal life. Nothing major happened. He sometimes got sick, broke his arm falling off his bike when he was eight, did alright in elementary school, the normal stuff.

When Ry was ten, he suddenly got really sick. His parents just assumed he was down with the flu, and he stayed home and slept off and on for a couple of days, before one day, his mum just couldn't get him to wake up. She (logically) panicked, called an ambulance, and Ry was taken to the hospital. The doctors realized he had meningitis, and went to work, giving him antibiotics to start bringing the swelling down and all that. When he woke up, groggy and still tired as hell, but awake, Ry couldn't really see. The doctors assured him was nothing, that he was still fighting off the infection, and he'd be fine in a day or two. He wasn't, but one of his doctors realized the infection was messing with his eyes, and he was taken into surgery. Thankfully, when he woke up, he could see again. His eye sight was worse than it was (not bad enough that he needs to wear glasses all the time, but worse than it had been. And sometimes, while he's doing homework or reading, his eyes start to hurt and stuff.) His parents, being the protective people they were, kept him out of school for as long as they could to make sure he was okay and healing well.

And then came Ry's 11th birthday. A man showed up at the door, with a letter for him; green writing on the envelope and a red wax seal. After reading the letter, the man explained everything. Ry was excited, happy, but his parents were incredibly skeptical, understandably. His mother outright said Rylen wouldn't be going to Hogwarts, because he was still recovering from being sick and almost going blind. His father wasn't quite as adamant, and it was pretty clear this wasn't a joke, that their son really was a wizard, and Ry wanted to go. He and his dad talked his mother down, and Ry was allowed to attend Hogwarts. There, he was sorted into Slytherin. He's gotten some shit, for being a muggleborn Slytherin, but Ry's never really been afraid of standing up for himself. Plus, honestly, he's pretty sure Azzy scares people away sometimes. His friend and his twin is weird.
